Millinocket (Maine) Regional Hospital said it detected unusual activity on its systems around July 21 and found that an unauthorized party had accessed the network, according to the Sept. 10 story.
The hospital said the data that may have been exposed included names, addresses, Social Security numbers, medical treatments and health insurance information, the newspaper reported.
The cybercriminal group RansomHub, which has been increasingly involved in cyberattacks targeting healthcare, took responsibility for the hack in July, claiming to have stolen 10 gigabytes of data. Becker’s reached out to the hospital for more information.
