Kenneth Brancik will be the first CISO for Suffolk County. A September hack there shut down the county’s phone system, took its systems offline for months, disrupted 911 operations, delayed court cases and exposed driver’s license and Social Security numbers of thousands of residents, according to the story.
Mr. Brancik was IT security chief at Mount Sinai from 2015 to 2021. He has also worked in cybersecurity leadership for JPMorgan Chase, Verizon and Northrop Grumman.
