710,000 patients impacted by data breaches in August

More than 710,000 patients may have had their information exposed as result of 44 data breach incidents reported in August, according to data from HHS’ Office for Civil Rights database and cited by JD Supra.

The most commonly cited reason for a data breach was a hacking or IT incident, which totaled 64 percent of all data breaches.

  3. Grays Harbor Community Hospital: 88,399 patients
  4. Conway Regional Health System: 37,000 patients
  5. Mount Sinai Hospital: 33,730 patients
  6. Integrated Regional Laboratories: 29,644
  7. Renown Health: 27,004 patients
  8. NorthStar Anesthesia: 19,807 patients
  9. Timothee Wilkin, DO: 15,113 patients
  10. University of Missouri Health Care: 14,402 patients
