Five things to know:
1. The number of breached records jumped significantly from 2018, with 15 million records breached during the entire year.
2. There have been 285 security incidents reported in the first half of 2019.
3. Hospital staff were the cause of more than 3 million patient records being breached.
4. The largest data breach that was exposed in the first half of 2019 was the result of hacking incident at American Medical Collection Agency, where more than 20 million records were affected.
5. Hacking was the cause of 60 percent of the total number of data breaches during the first half of the year.
