Computer Standards Organization OMG, HIMSS to Develop Health IT Standards, Share Resources

The computer industry standards organization OMG and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society are working together on standards development, conferences and other resources, according to a HIMSS news release.

OMG will become an affiliate member of HIMSS, and HIMSS will become a domain member of OMG. Initial projects will include OMG Healthcare Domain Task Force participation in HIMSS events and HIMSS’ participation in OMG’s Semantic and SOA Services Information Day. One of the organizations’ goals is to guide HIT users on integration and interoperability of healthcare information by creating standards.
