Community Health Systems to implement VirtualHealth Now for telemedicine services: 4 things to know

Community Health Systems, based in Franklin, Tenn., is planning to implement telemedicine technology in four of its markets.

Here are four things to know.

1. CHS signed an agreement with American Well, a Boston-based telemedicine provider.

2. CHS will implement American Well’s VirtualHealth Now technology for primary care urgent services. The services will be primarily for after hours and weekend needs.

3. CHS will initially launch VirtualHealth Now at AllianceHealth Oklahoma in Durant and Rockwood Health System in Spokane, Wash.

4. Going forward, CHS will consider expanding the telemedicine technology to hospitals in Arizona and Pennsylvania.
