Cognizant expands Salesforce cloud consulting portfolio with new acquisition: 4 things to know

Cognizant entered into an agreement to acquire consulting firm SaaSfocus, the IT consulting firm announced Aug. 23.

Here are four things to know about the deal:

1. SaaSfocus specializes in supporting companies leveraging the Salesforce customer relationship management platform.

2. Cognizant, which is already a Salesforce global strategic partner, will integrate more than 350 of SaaSfocus' consultants from the financial services, insurance, manufacturing and automotive industries into its Salesforce practice.

3. The acquisition will expand Cognizant's Salesforce cloud capabilities in the Asia-Pacific region, where SaaSfocus maintains a stronghold as one of the largest independent Salesforce Platinum consulting partners.

"Customer relationship and service management systems are at the core of our clients' digital strategies," Jayajyoti Sengupta, head of the Asia-Pacific region at Cognizant, said in a news release. "This acquisition of a respected and successful Salesforce specialist underlines our commitment to helping clients in Australia and India digitally transform their businesses and reshape the way they interact with their customers."

Mark Innes, executive vice president for the Asia-Pacific at Salesforce, added: "As the global leader in CRM, Salesforce has well established and successful relationships with both Cognizant and SaaSfocus and we look forward to continuing our work with mutual clients in India, Australia and around the world."

4. The acquisition is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2018, subject to certain closing conditions. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
