Cochlear introduces iPhone-compatible wireless hearing implant

Cochlear, a developer of implantable hearing solutions, debuted its Nucleus 7 Sound Processor on July 26.

The Nucleus 7 Sound Processor is the first cochlear hearing implant that wirelessly connects to iPhones, iPads and iPods. With the implant, a user can stream phone calls, music and videos directly from compatible Apple devices to their sound processor.

The Food and Drug Administration approved the Nucleus 7 Sound Processor in June. Cochlear plans to launch the device’s commercial availability in September.
