Google launches accelerator for AI startups

Google's Developers Launchpad, an accelerator for tech startups, unveiled an effort targeted toward artificial intelligence developers, Google Developers Launchpad Global Lead Roy Glasberg wrote in a company blog post July 26.

The initiative — called Google Developers Launchpad Studio — provides tailored technical and product support to startups focused on AI and machine learning. The studio plans to offer services like product validation support, access to AI experts and connections to AI investors, among others.

"In the last four years, we've learned a lot while supporting early and late-stage founders," Mr. Glasberg wrote. "From working with dynamic startups — such as teams applying artificial intelligence technology to solving transportation problems in Israel, improving telemedicine in Brazil and optimizing online retail in India — we've learned that these startups require specialized services to help them scale."

Google plans to headquarter the studio in San Francisco. Google Developers Launchpad Studio will also host activities in New York City and Tel Aviv, Israel, with potential to expand to Toronto; London; Bangalore, India; and Singapore.
