CMS Creates New Fact Sheet for HIPAA 5010 Transition

CMS has developed a fact sheet (pdf) on HIPAA 5010 to help providers transition to the new system, according to a HIMSS news release.

The fact sheet suggests the following steps for a smooth transition to Version 5010:

1. Create a transition plan.
2. Communicate with vendors regularly.
3. Reach out to a clearinghouse for assistance.
4. Establish a line of credit.
5. Take advantage of the free software available to Medicare fee-for-service providers via Medicare Administrative Contractors.
