CMS: 10 Hospitals Have Attested to MU2

Ten hospitals have reached meaningful use stage 2, according to new data from CMS.

In total, just 128 hospitals have attested to any stage during the 2014 reporting year as of July 1, representing 3 percent of all eligible hospitals.

At the start of May, CMS announced just four hospitals had reached stage 2, sparking renewed industry calls for more flexibility in the meaningful use timeline. Because many providers’ concerns stemmed from vendors delivering 2014 Edition software updates later than expected, CMS issued a proposed rule that would allow providers that encountered vendor delays to attest using 2011 Edition software or attest to another year of stage 1. The rule has not yet gone into effect.

On the physician side, 972 eligible providers have attested to stage 2, and a total of 2,823 have attested during the 2014 reporting year.
