The majority of CIOs — 70 percent — are investing in cloud computing, according to a joint survey by IT outsourcing service provider Harvey Nash and professional services firm KPMG.

For the IT leadership survey, Harvey Nash and KPMG asked nearly 4,000 CIOs and technology leaders across 84 countries about their attitudes toward various aspects of their careers, including budget, technology and workforce priorities.

Here's how eight emerging technologies stacked up, ranked by how often CIOs indicated their organizations were investing a "significant" or "moderate" amount:

1. Cloud: 70 percent

2. Mobile: 57 percent

3. Artificial intelligence: 24 percent

4. On-demand: 23 percent

5. Internet of things: 21 percent

6. Robotic process automation: 17 percent

7. Virtual reality: 10 percent

8. Blockchain: 9 percent
