Class action lawsuit filed against MIE following health data breach

Fort Wayne, Ind.-based Medical Informatics Engineering is facing a class action lawsuit for negligence, breach of contract and violation of the Indiana Deceptive Consumer Sales Act following the announcement of a health data breach now estimated to impact 3.9 million people.

Additionally the suit claims that MIE’s July notification letters did not provide timely notification of the breach, which occurred in late May. The Indiana attorney general is also currently investigating the breach.
