Cincinnati Children's Reaches HIMSS Stage 7

Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center has received HIMSS Analytics' Stage 7 award for electronic medical record adoption. Additionally, 14 of the hospital's associated ambulatory clinics received the Stage 7 Ambulatory Awards.

"We're proud to be among a very small number of U.S. hospitals that have been recognized for developing and managing a top-notch EMR system," said Michael Fisher, president and CEO of Cincinnati Children's, in a news release. "I'm grateful to the entire team who contributes to this effort every day, and excited about what this means to patient safety, quality care, research and ultimately, the health of the children and families we serve."

Since 2005, HIMSS Analytics' EMR Adoption Model has tracked EMR adoption in hospitals and health systems throughout the country. The eight-stage model cumulates with stage 7, in which paper records are no longer used. Stage 7 organizations are also able to share patient information electronically and have advanced data analytics capabilities.
