Cerner named Cliff Illig — company co-founder and vice chairman of the board — chairman and interim CEO. Mr. Patterson and Mr. Illig co-founded the company in 1979.

Scott Becker, Publisher of Becker’s Healthcare, noted, “He had his pluses and minuses, but overall Neal was a remarkable visionary and leader. Under his leadership, Cerner grew exponentially.”
