The email, part of an approved patient care coordination process, had not been properly secured by a CaroMont employee before sending. The email contained the affected patients’ personal and health information, as well as the Medicare numbers for two of the patients.
CaroMont does not believe the email was intercepted or the information is at risk. The system is retraining staff on proper information disclosure.
