California enacts new data breach notification requirements: 3 things to know

California is now subject to new data breach notification legislation, according to a California Healthline report.

Here are three things to know.

1. Governor Jerry Brown (D) signed the three-bill legislative package into law, according to the report.

2. The three bills (AB 964, AB 570, AB34) focus on data encryption standards, personal information definition and data breach notification language.

3. The legislation was created in response to the number of large data breaches that occurred this year, including the UCLA Health breach.
