BetterDoctor allows patients to search Medicare pricing data for procedures, as well as the number of procedures each physician has performed. Additionally, patients can see physician-to-physician referral data.
Ari Tulla, BetterDoctor co-founder and CEO, said in a news release he developed this app to help patients find the correct physician and to “give patients the transparency they deserve.”
The app falls in line with the Code-a-Palooza challenge, tasking contestants to develop apps helping patients make health decisions using Medicare claims data, although it wasn’t a participant. However, like Apple’s HealthKit and Google Fit, such apps are empowering patients to become active players in their healthcare.
