BD acquires pharmacy tech firm MedKeeper for $93M

Medtech company Becton, Dickinson and Co. recently acquired MedKeeper for $93 million, adding to its growing roster of pharmacy automation companies.

BD will use MedKeeper’s cloud-based applications to optimize the preparation of compounded medications. MedKeeper had specialized in hospital pharmacies. 

“Preparing the right dose for patients requires a combination of factors — including personnel, training and compliance,” said Mike Garrison, worldwide president of medication management solutions at BD, in a July 28 BD news release. “Pharmacy leaders require IV workflow management technology that is personalized to their needs and works within their environment.”

BD also bought automated pharmacy company Parata Systems earlier in July for $1.5 billion.
