Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, Md., has become the first acute-care hospital to join a health information exchange based in another state, according to an SC Sun Times report.

The hospital joined the Delaware Health Information Network because the hospital provides care for a number of Delaware residents, according to the report.

“We’re very pleased to be connected with the Delaware Health Information Exchange. About 20 percent of the patients we treat in our emergency department are from Delaware, and having access to health information from Delaware hospitals affords another level of care that we can now provide to our patients,” Cheryl Nottingham, AGH’s CFO, said in the report.
