The company is using its technology to identify patients who are at risk of contracting Zika. After the CDC’s Aug. 1 warning to a specific Miami neighborhood, athenahealth has already identified more than 1,800 at-risk patients within the area. Borinquen Health Care Center of Miami Dade serves almost 1,400 at-risk patients.
“Working with athenahealth, we have been able to activate the CDC’s updated guidelines immediately to educate and protect our patients, and the community we serve,” said Diego Shmuels, MD, Borinquen’s director of quality and clinical practice management, in a statement.
athenahealth will publicize its Zika-related research findings online Aug. 4.
