Arkansas Medical Board gives telemedicine rule the green light again

The Arkansas State Medical Board voted Oct. 6 to approve regulation regarding telemedicine practice standards, according to SWTimes.com.

Regulation 38 claims a patient finishing a medical history form online and forwarding it to a physician isn't sufficient enough to qualify as "store and forward" technology.

In June, the medical board voted to approve the regulation, but the House and Senate committees on public health, welfare and labor did not approve it. In August, the Administrative Rules and Regulations Committee voted to send Regulation 38 back to the board for a new public comment period. On Thursday, the board voted to approve the regulation.

The rule will head to the state's legislative council for approval.
