Ariadne Labs appoints new executive director: 4 things to know

Ariadne Labs, Boston-based Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health’s joint innovation center, selected Asaf Bitton, MD, as its new executive director.

Four things to know:

1. Dr. Bitton has served as director of Ariadne Labs’ primary healthcare program since 2014.

2. He is a primary care physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital as well as a professor in Boston-based Harvard Medical School’s healthcare policy department.

3. Since 2012, Dr. Bitton has served as a senior adviser to CMS’ Comprehensive Primary Care Plus program, which is a primary care initiative that includes 13,000 clinicians at practices across the U.S. and serves 15 million patients.

4. As the next executive director, Dr. Bitton succeeds Atul Gawande, MD, CEO of the joint Amazon-Berkshire Hathaway-JP Morgan Chase health venture. Dr. Gawande now serves as chairman of the Ariadne Labs Governance Council.
