Apple revenue grows 7% in Q3: 6 things to know

Apple released its earnings results Tuesday for the third quarter, which ended July 1, posting a 7 percent growth in revenue. 

Here are six things to know.

1. The company reported $45.4 billion in quarterly revenue, up from $42.4 billion in the third quarter of 2016.

2. Apple's earnings per diluted share were $1.67, compared to $1.42 one year prior.

3. The company posted $8.7 billion in third quarter net income, an increase from $7.8 billion one year prior.

4. Apple reported the largest portion of its revenue — $20.4 billion — was driven by the Americas operating segment, which increased 13 percent year-over-year.

5. The iPhone was Apple's best-selling product, posting 41 million units sold, representing $24.8 billion in revenue.

6. Apple's services revenue hit an all-time quarterly high with$7.3 billion in revenue, representing a growth of 22 percent year-over-year.
