Kaspersky analyzed the number of ransomware attacks on Android phones that use its security solution. From April 2014 to March 2015, there were 35,413 attempted ransomware attacks on these phones. One year later, there were 136,532 attempted ransomware attacks on these phones.
Additionally, of all malware attacks on the phones, the proportion that were ransomware attempts increased from 2.04 percent from 2014-15 to 4.63 percent in 2015-16.
Mobile ransomware has not been studied or researched as widely as PC ransomware, according to the report.
