The retail giant will add tech positions in fields including cloud computing, software and hardware engineering. The new employees will join the more than 6,600 Amazon workers already in Austin, The Statesman reports.
The new 145,000-sqaure-foot office will open next year, and Amazon expects to hire the new employees over the next several years, a company spokesperson told The Statesman.
