According to the complaint, FollowMyHealth and other patient-facing solutions from Allscripts violate eight U.S. patents held by MyMedicalRecords’ parent, MMRGlobal. The complaint also alleges Allscripts’ infringement encourages others in the healthcare industry to infringe on MMR’s patents as well.

“While MMR’s business is primarily selling our personal health record products and services, we remain focused on the monetization of our patents and other intellectual property both domestically and internationally,” said MMR CEO Robert H. Lorsch in the release.

Allscripts declined to comment, citing company policy to not discuss pending litigation.
