Chicago-based Allscripts leads one of three teams bidding for the Department of Defense’s $11 billion EHR contract. The inclusion of Elsevier’s clinical decision software is designed to boost patient care capabilities in Allscripts’ Sunrise EHR for the DoD’s modernization project, according to a news release.
Elsevier’s CPM Framework includes a clinical decision support system, providing access to patients’ care history and suggesting evidence-based best practices.
“Open access to data and best treatment options are critical for all patients, but especially for military personnel and their families who often relocate back to the U.S. after their foreign service,” said Diane Bradley, Allscripts chief quality and outcomes officer, in the news release. “By integrating the CPM Framework in Allscripts Sunrise EHR, clinicians have instant access to a comprehensive system of clinical practice models to guide their care decisions.”
Allscripts’ team, which includes Hewlett-Packard and Computer Sciences Corp., is competing for the contract against a team led by Epic and another led by Cerner. The contract is expected to be awarded in late summer or early fall 2015.
