Ujjwal Ratan has joined UnitedHealth Group’s consulting and analytics division, Optum Insight, as chief AI officer.
In a Sept. 10 LinkedIn post, Mr. Ratan said his role is to enable Optum Insight to operate as a connected agentic network in healthcare.
“Agentic AI only works if the agents have real, connected data to reason over — and few organizations sit across as much of the healthcare journey as Optum does: providers, payers, pharmacy, life sciences and government programs, under one roof,” he said. “That’s exactly the foundation this next wave of AI needs, and exactly why I think Optum is positioned to set the standard for agentic AI across healthcare, not just inside it.”
Most recently, Mr. Ratan was a head of machine learning and data science for healthcare and life sciences at cloud computing platform Amazon Web Services. He spent more than a decade with the company, his LinkedIn profile said.
