Northwestern Medicine signs multi-year tech deal

Chicago-based Northwestern Medicine and PathAI have entered a multi-year collaboration aimed at transforming pathology diagnostics through AI.

Here are five things to know:

  1. Northwestern Medicine will adopt PathAI’s AISight digital pathology image management system across its 11 hospitals, giving its 95 pathologists a centralized platform for case review and remote collaboration, according to a June 2 news release.

  2. The initiative includes a broad framework for joint research, clinical innovation programs and the co-development of diagnostic algorithms powered by machine learning.

  3. PathAI scientists and Northwestern Medicine researchers will explore the application of AI in digital pathology.

  4. The organizations plan to test AI tools in clinical environments, integrating AI-generated insights directly into diagnostic workflows.

  5. Northwestern Medicine pathologists will collaborate with PathAI to design and refine AI-based diagnostic tools tailored to unmet clinical needs.
