NewYork-Presbyterian has adopted Signal 1’s AI Management System (AIMS) to govern and monitor artificial intelligence tools deployed across the New York City-based health system.
The platform will oversee AI technologies ranging from cancer and structural heart disease detection tools to applications supporting discharge planning and clinical documentation, according to an Aug. 3 news release. NewYork-Presbyterian worked closely with Signal 1 to design the platform and establish best practices for responsible AI management in healthcare.
AIMS builds on NewYork-Presbyterian’s existing governance framework, which the health system uses to evaluate AI for safety, performance and accountability. The platform adds a centralized system for managing predictive AI, generative AI and emerging AI agents, with standardized risk assessment, continuous monitoring, bias detection and audit capabilities.
The move reflects a broader shift among health systems, which are increasingly managing AI as a single portfolio rather than evaluating each new tool on its own.
