Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic hosted an AI summit July 7-8 to explore how artificial intelligence could revolutionize healthcare and biomedicine, with a focus on patient-first innovation.
The event emphasized AI’s potential to enhance patient outcomes across clinical areas, according to an Oct. 7 summit summary. Clark Otley, MD, chief medical officer of Mayo Clinic Platform, said the health system’s AI leadership stems from its commitment to delivering personalized, accessible, affordable and secure care.
Matthew Callstrom, MD, PhD, medical director of Mayo Clinic’s generative artificial intelligence program, discussed efforts to shift medicine from reactive to proactive care through AI-supported treatment selection and risk prediction.
Speakers also discussed the Mayo Clinic Platform’s strategy for responsible AI development and the use of de-identified patient data to create clinical tools for diagnostics, fall prevention and decision support.
