Cooper Norcross Health is piloting Microsoft Dragon Copilot for nurses at Cooper Norcross University Hospital in Camden, N.J.

During patient care, a nurse can start an ambient recording on a mobile device. Dragon Copilot uses the conversation and spoken observations to draft structured documentation for the electronic health record. Nurses review, edit and approve the entries before filing them. Cooper said in a Sept. 28 news release that it obtains patient consent before recording.

Cooper will measure documentation time savings, accuracy and nurse satisfaction on the pilot unit before deciding whether to expand the tool to additional units and both hospital campuses.

The health system said it already has more than 1,300 Dragon Copilot licenses supporting ambient documentation for physicians and advanced practice providers.
