Charta Health, an AI-powered chart review platform, has joined the Athenahealth marketplace.
The San Francisco-based company’s platform integrates directly with Athenahealth’s EHR to automate pre-billing chart audits across every patient encounter. Charta said its technology increases revenue by an average of 11% by catching coding errors, undercoding, and payer-specific compliance gaps before claims go out, according to a June 9 company news release.
The platform offers five capabilities: autonomous coding, revenue discovery, payer compliance, clinical quality measure tracking and provider performance feedback. Each is designed to run across 100% of encounters rather than the sample-based audits typical of manual review processes.
“Most provider organizations are leaving significant revenue on the table because manual chart review can’t keep up with the volume and complexity of today’s billing environment,” Justin Liu, co-founder and CEO of Charta Health, said in the release. “Our integration with athenahealth means the practices that need this technology most can now access it directly within the workflow they already use every day.”
The Athenahealth marketplace connects AthenaOne customers with third-party applications that extend the platform’s core functionality, with a focus on reducing administrative friction and improving financial performance.
