The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs selected Abridge to provide ambient AI technology under a nationwide enterprise contract.
The multiple-award contract allows VA medical centers and regions to deploy Abridge for clinicians. It has a total ceiling of $775.72 million over five years across all vendors eligible to compete for task orders, according to a Sept. 22 news release.
Abridge is already operating on both of the VA’s EHR systems, VistA/CPRS and the Federal EHR, through an earlier pilot. The company said its technology is being used by thousands of clinicians at more than 75 VA medical centers.
The platform is used to support clinical documentation and surface information from patient encounters. At the VA, it is live in primary care, about a dozen specialties and the agency’s Clinical Resource Hubs, which support virtual care.
Abridge said its pilot operated under VA security authorization, with veteran data handled under the agency’s security controls.
