Three large health systems reported measurable financial gains and reduced documentation burdens after deploying an ambient clinical documentation platform, according to a Jan. 22 KLAS Research analysis examining real-world return on investment.
Baton Rouge, La.-based FMOL Health, Florence, S.C.-based McLeod Health and Chicago-based Rush University System for Health each piloted and expanded use of Suki’s AI-powered clinical intelligence platform in ambulatory care settings, aiming to ease clinician documentation workloads while improving efficiency and financial performance. All three organizations reported clinician time savings and documentation improvements, though operational and patient-facing outcomes varied across sites.
The findings are detailed in a January 2026 KLAS “ROI Validations” report, which evaluated both quantitative and qualitative outcomes from the three health systems following implementation of the technology. KLAS emphasized that the report reflects the experience of a small sample of customers and is not representative of the vendor’s full client base.
Here are five key findings from the report:
- At FMOL Health, clinicians using the platform spent 21% less time completing notes, and after-hours documentation declined by 65%, according to the KLAS analysis. The organization also saw a 6.5% increase in established Level 4 patient visits, contributing to an estimated $862 increase in incremental revenue per user per month tied to improved evaluation and management coding.
- McLeod Health reported similar financial and efficiency gains. The health system recorded an average net revenue increase of $1,004 per provider per month from shifts in E/M coding distribution, with total monthly revenue gains reaching $2,629 per provider when combined with other improvements, the report found. Clinicians at McLeod also reduced time spent on documentation by nearly 27%, saving an average of 3.6 hours per month during the pilot period.
- Rush University System for Health reported more modest but still measurable improvements. According to the KLAS report, Rush saw a 5.5% increase in same-day chart closure rates and a $178 increase in monthly revenue per user associated with more complete documentation. Time spent documenting and after-hours work each declined by about 4%.
- Across all three organizations, KLAS found that clinician satisfaction and perceived reductions in burnout were consistent qualitative outcomes. At FMOL Health, all clinicians who responded to a post-implementation survey reported improved work-life balance. At McLeod Health, providers rated their satisfaction with the platform 8 out of 10, and all respondents said they would recommend the tool to peers.
- The report also highlighted differences in patient-related outcomes. McLeod Health measured a 6.3% improvement in patient experience metrics tied to provider listening and trust, along with a Net Promoter Score of 65 following implementation. FMOL Health and Rush reported anecdotal improvements in patient engagement and provider focus during visits, though those outcomes were not yet validated with quantitative data.
KLAS cautioned that results may change as additional organizations are studied and emphasized that healthcare leaders should consider these findings as part of broader due diligence when evaluating ambient documentation technologies.
