Angela Kennedy, EdD, will serve as president and chair of the board. Dr. Kennedy is the chairman of the department of health informatics and information management at Louisiana Tech University. She previously served two terms as the president of the Louisiana Health Information Management Association.
Cassi Birnbaum will serve as president and chair-elect. Ms. Birnbaum is the vice president of health information management for Peak Health Solutions. She previously served as a direction of the AHIMA board from 2009 to 2012.
Jennifer McManis will serve as speaker of the house. Ms. McManis is currently a consultant in the Healthcare Practice Division of Crowley Fleck Attorneys.
Three directors were also elected: Zinethia Clemmons, senior health
information privacy specialist for HHS’ Office for Civil Rights; Virginia Evans, a business analyst at Emory Healthcare in Atlanta and Colleen Goethals, health information management consultant for Midwest Medical Records Association and Cardone Record Services.
