The letter was sent April 19 in response to the ONC and CMS’ public request for information on a wide range of possible new regulatory mechanisms.
Ashley Thompson, AHA’s vice president and deputy director of policy, said additional regulatory requirements are not necessary to advance interoperability and the electronic exchange of health information, according to the report.
