While physicians were deemed the highest salary earners for 2016 by a Glassdoor report, jobs in information technology and software are also offering increasingly competitive salaries.
Glassdoor released its "25 Highest Paying Jobs in America for 2016" report, which found physicians' median base salary of $180,000 lands them in the job offering the highest salaries. Lawyers came in second place, with a median base salary of $144,500.
Highly present on the list are jobs in the IT field. Here are the median base salaries of nine IT and software jobs that are among the highest paying in America, according to Glassdoor.

- Applications development manager: $120,000
- Systems architect: $116,920
- Data scientist: $115,000
