6 in 10 Buyers Looking to Replace Practice Management Software

More than half of healthcare providers — 55 percent — are using a commercial practice management software, but 63 percent of those users are looking to replace that software, according to a report from practice management comparison site Software Advice.

The report sampled 385 buyers' software practices. The majority of respondents — 24 percent — cited ICD-10 and regulatory compliance as the main reason for looking for new software.

Here are the nine following reasons as to why buyers are shopping for new practice management software.

1. Current software is outdated or unsupported — 19 percent

2. Current software is too cumbersome — 17 percent

3. Want to integrate electronic health record — 16 percent

4. Want to improve organization and efficiency — 15.5 percent

5. Current software lacks features or functionality — 13 percent

6. Current software is glitchy — 10.5 percent

7. Current software is too expensive — 8 percent

8. Want better mobile or remote support — 5 percent

9. Want a specialty-specific solution — 4.5 percent
