5 most-talked about emerging health IT segments, according to KLAS

There are a range of emerging market segments in the health IT space. However, not all are catching the attention of healthcare providers.

To gain insight into which trends are gaining traction, health IT research firm KLAS Research interviewed more than 100 provider leaders about which new vendors they believe have the most potential to innovate or disrupt healthcare.

Here are the five most frequently mentioned market segments KLAS Research encountered during the 124 interviews:

1. Patient engagement: 21 percent

2. Physician experience: 17 percent

3. Analytics or business intelligence: 16 percent

4. Security, primarily related to cybersecurity or secure communications: 15 percent

5. Revenue cycle: 12 percent

Providers also mentioned segments such as imaging, payer solutions, precision medicine, IT management, medical devices and reputation management.
