5 common reasons patients use wearables, ranked

Roughly 33 percent of Americans have used a wearable device, according to a Rock Health report.

Rock Health, a seed fund that supports digital health startups, conducted its fourth annual survey on consumers attitudes toward digital health for its report titled “Beyond Wellness For the Healthy: Digital Health Consumer Adoption 2018.” More than 4,000 U.S. consumers over the age of 18 responded to the survey.

The top five reasons respondents cited for adopting wearables in 2018:

1. Physical activity: 44 percent

2. Fitness training: 43 percent

3. Weight loss: 37 percent

4. Better sleep: 31 percent

5. Diagnosis management: 30 percent
