3 things to know from Deloitte's Global CIO Survey

Deloitte released its 2016-2017 Global CIO Survey, which analyzed 1,217 CIOs in 48 countries across 23 industry segments.

Here are three things to know from the survey.

1. Approximately 57 percent of CIOs said their organization's No. 1 priority is the customer. Interestingly, only 45 percent of CIOs are involved in delivering customer experience and 44 percent spend time on customer acquisition, retention and loyalty.

2. The majority of CIOs — 78 percent — said strategically aligning their IT activities and business strategy is critical. Yet only 5 percent said actually aligning these is one of their organization's strong suits.

3. Twenty-eight percent of CIOs said their IT organizations are below average regarding digital skill sets, especially regarding customer and digital experience and analytics. In fact, two out of every five CIOs said their organizations weren't investing enough in up-and-coming technologies and analytics.
