3 things to know about Orlando Health CIO Rick Schooler

Orlando (Fla.) Health Vice President and CIO Rick Schooler was noted to Becker's Hospital Review as an amazing health IT leader.

Here are three things to know about Mr. Schooler.

1. He has been with Orlando Health for nearly 16 years. Mr. Schooler joined Orlando Health as vice president and CIO in 2001. Previously, he served as CIO of Navicent Health, formerly known as Central Georgia Health System, in Macon.

2. Mr. Schooler holds two degrees. After earning his bachelor's degree in computer technology from West Lafayette, Ind.-based Purdue University, he went on to earn his master of business administration degree from the University of Indianapolis.

3. Through the years, Mr. Schooler has won various awards. His accolades include the CHIME-HIMSS John E. Gall Jr. CIO of the Year Award and the CHIME Innovator of the Year Award. He has also been named Orlando Business Journal's Healthcare Hero and the Georgia CIO Leadership Association's Georgia CIO of the Year.
