Here are three more technology skills physicians should master, according to iHealthBeat.

1. Mobile health applications. As mobile platforms become the standard, providers should be comfortable using such apps. Currently, demand for mobile communication and interaction from patients exceeds providers who use such apps and technologies. “Mobile health tools will inevitably take on a larger role in patient care, and if providers aren’t using them now, they won’t know how to use them when they need to,” according to the report.

2. Data analytics software. EHRs and IT systems are collecting more data than ever before, and patient use of wearables adds to that trove of data. Providers should be comfortable taking in all this data and analyzing it in a useful way, particularly to make more informed care decisions, according to the report.

3. Remote monitoring tools. Remote monitoring can eliminate the need for patients to go to a physician’s office for routine checkups as well as allow providers to monitor patients to avoid potential readmissions.
