For the survey, Reaction Data asked 285 C-suite executives and department heads from hospitals and health systems to identify top organizations for innovation, thought leadership and quality of care. Reaction Data’s goal for the survey was to assess brand recognition and reputation among the top U.S. hospitals.

“Although the respondents could choose any hospital organization they wanted to, only 17 of the 285 hospital leaders choose their own organizations,” the survey reads. “Which reveals just how well the top five contenders in the healthcare industry perform in brand recognition and reputation.”

Here are the top five hospitals respondents cited when asked, “What healthcare system comes to mind as a model for innovation?”

1. Mayo Clinic (Rochester, Minn.)

2. Kaiser Permanente (Oakland, Calif.)

3. Cleveland Clinic

4. Geisinger Health System (Danville, Pa.)

5. Intermountain Healthcare (Salt Lake City)
