The breach occurred when an unauthorized third party allegedly accessed the center’s database, which contains patient names, Social Security numbers, physician names, diagnoses, treatment information and insurance information. The plaintiffs are seeking $15 million in relief, according to the report.
This is not the first legal problem 21st Century Oncology has run into this year. The cancer center has agreed to pay the federal government $34.7 million to resolve false claims allegations.
