2 Noteworthy Venture Funding Announcements at mHealth Summit

Two rapidly growing health IT companies announced additional venture capital funding at this week’s mHealth Summit in National Harbor, Md., near Washington, D.C.

Free electronic health record vendor Practice Fusion announced $15 million in new funding, led by Qualcomm Ventures. Qualcomm has dedicated about one fifth of its $500 million fund to investment in healthcare companies. The venture capital firm currently has 10 other healthcare investments, including popular fitness device FitBit, according to a report in Forbes.

Patient engagement solutions firm HealthLoop announced $10 million in funding, led by Canvas Venture Fund, according to Forbes. HealthLoop products seek to facilitate communication between physicians and patients outside of office visits.
