15 CIO Moves in 2013

The following CIOs changed jobs in 2013, beginning with the most recent:

1. Edward-Elmhurst Healthcare, the recently created entity following the merger of Edward Hospital and Health Services in Naperville, Ill., and Elmhurst (Ill.) Memorial Hospital, named Bobbie Byrne, MD, system vice president and CIO.

2. Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Van Nuys, Calif., announced the appointment of Jeff Allport as vice president and CIO.

3. Oakland, Calif.-based Alameda Health System named Dave Gravender CIO.

4. St. Joseph's Healthcare System in Paterson, N.J., appointed Jane Tsui-Wu CIO and vice president of IT.

5. Arlington Heights, Ill.-based Northwest Community Healthcare announced the appointment of Glen Malan as vice president and CIO.  

6. Flint, Mich.-based McLaren Health Care named Ron Strachan CIO.

7. Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo., announced Edward Duryee has been named CIO.

8. Kalamazoo, Mich.-based Bronson Healthcare announced the appointment of Paul Peabody as vice-president and CIO.

9. Palo Alto, Calif.-based Stanford Hospital & Clinics announced Pravene Nath, MD, has been named CIO.

10. Boston-based Minuteman Health, a member-governed, nonprofit insurance plan, appointed Robert Chin as chief administration and information officer.

11. Boston-based Steward Health Care System CIO Drexel DeFord left his post to join Huntsville, Texas-based Next Wave Health, an investment advisory firm and innovator in health IT, as a principal advisor.

12. Stony Brook (N.Y.) University appointed Cole W. Camplese vice president for IT and CIO.

13. Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, Del., announced the appointment of Michael J. Maksymow Jr. as executive vice president and CIO. 

14. Carolyn Byerly, CIO of Stanford (Calif.) Hospital & Clinics, stepped down and started a consulting firm.

15. Toledo, Ohio-based ProMedica named Rose Ann Laureto CIO.
