15 best cities for women in tech

While gender equity problems persist in the technology industry, some cities are better — or worse — than others.

SmartAsset, a financial software and data firm, analyzed Census Bureau data to find which cities offer more balanced and equitable technology work for women and men. They looked at four metrics to determine the rankings: women as a percentage of the tech workforce, gender pay gap, income after housing costs and the three year tech employment growth.

Here are the 15 best cities for women in tech, according to SmartAsset.

2. Kansas City, Mo.

3. Detroit

4. Baltimore

5. Indianapolis

6. Chandler, Ariz.

7. New York

8. New Orleans
